Programs

South Bay Oyster Recycling provides several programs and initiatives focused on oyster shell recycling that supports the environment creating opportunities for philanthropy and education.  

Below are various programs:

Shell Collection

This program partners with local restaurants, seafood businesses, and individual to collect and recycle oyster shells.  The collected shells are then used to create new oyster reefs which provide important habitat for oyster populations including the California extinct Olympian oyster, and as nutrients for healthy soil options.

Shell Bagging Events 

These events bring together volunteers to bag collected oyster shells, which are then used for shoreline restoration projects.  This hands-on approach creates awareness and engages the community in the importance of oyster shell recycling

Education and Outreach

Programs that focus on education and outreach efforts to raise awareness about the benefits of oyster shell recycling and marine life restoration.  These initiatives include beach workshops, presentations and educational materials.
